How to Request a Copy of Your Orange Police Accident Report

According to the City of Orange’s official website, you may request a copy of your report in-person or via U.S. Mail.

The front desk is open Monday through Saturday, 8am to 6pm. Make sure to bring valid government issued identification.

Requesting (and Receiving) Your Traffic Accident Report Through the Mail

You may request your traffic accident report via U.S. mail. You must include the following:

  • A legible copy of a valid government issued ID.
  • Your traffic accident information (Your report number, date and time of your accident, location, vehicle models).
  • A check for $24.00 made payable to: City of Orange.
  • A self-addressed stamped envelope.

Important Items to Note About Obtaining Your Report:

  • The Orange PD does charge a $24.00 convenience fee when you request a traffic accident report both in-person and via U.S. Mail.
  • Your traffic accident report request will be reviewed for eligibility for release.
  • Accident reports may take around 10 to 15 business days, not including Fridays, to process from the date of your accident.
  • If you go in-person to the Orange PD front desk, you must present valid government issued identification and payment when picking up your accident report.
  • If you do not have your report number, or have any questions about your accident report, you may call the Records Bureau front desk within the Orange PD at 714-744-7381.

Serious Accident? You May Need to Fill Out a DMV SR-1 Form

California law requires that you fill out a DMV SR-1 Form within 10 days of your accident if:

  • There was property damage of more than $1,000
  • Anyone was injured
  • Anyone was killed
