Driver Lost Control of Car in Huntington Beach, Pronounced Dead at the Scene

Huntington Beach, CALIFORNIA – A 24-year-old man died early Sunday in a crash near Huntington Beach.

At 1:50 am, police responded to reports of a single vehicle crash. Near the intersection of Warner Ave. and Brightwater Dr., officers found one person in the car, Rubio Avila Jr. of Huntington Beach. According to the Orange County Coroner’s office and the Huntington Beach PD, he suffered severe injuries. Paramedics pronounced Avila dead at the scene.

Sgt. Thoby Archer of Huntington Beach PD said it looked as if the young man was traveling east on Warner Ave. when he struck the curb and lost control of the vehicle. Avila was the only one in the car.

There are no further details about the crash, and the coroner’s office has not yet determined the cause of death.
